AXIO Insurance Broker: Capital increase subscribed by Progress Srl to accelerate growth and specialization in the healthcare sector
Rome, 28/05/2025
AXIO Insurance Broker announces a significant strategic transaction aimed at strengthening its position in the healthcare sector and consolidating a structured and sustainable growth plan. On April 17, 2025, the company's Board of Directors approved a capital increase, subscribed by Progress Srl, a long-standing company with over 30 years of experience in insurance brokerage and a national leader in medical liability insurance (medmal), with a strong specialization in private healthcare.
The transaction represents a true industrial integration, involving the transfer of Progress's operational offices, key stakeholder relationships, commercial relations, and highly qualified personnel to AXIO. This key step allows AXIO to strengthen its organizational and commercial structure, further enhancing its ability to offer tailored insurance solutions to industry professionals.
In an increasingly polarized market, where specialized skills, financial strength, and strategic vision are crucial to competition and growth, AXIO confirms its ambition: to emerge as a distinctive player thanks to its professionalism, expert advice, and quality of service. Progress's entry into the AXIO group accelerates this journey, with the stated medium-term goal of positioning itself among the leading national players in the private healthcare insurance sector.
Reflecting the significance of the agreement, Umberto Trocino, an actuary who began his career at Uniorias, the largest Italian reinsurer in the 1990s, CEO of Progress Srl and a leading professional in the healthcare insurance landscape, joins the Board of Directors of AXIO Insurance Broker. His experience—along with that of Davide Martorana, CEO Andrea Romano, and Chairman of the Board of Directors Calogero Romano—will be instrumental in guiding the development of new projects and expansion strategies. Trocino stated, "Joining AXIO and the synergy with a dynamic Board will allow us to achieve our goal of establishing ourselves among the top leaders in the sector, particularly in private healthcare."
"This transaction represents a real leap in quality for us," said Andrea Romano, CEO of AXIO. "The market will reward those who can combine vision and expertise. With Progress, we share an approach focused on excellence and specialized consulting: professionalism has always been our hallmark, and we are confident it will continue to be our key competitive advantage in the years to come. AXIO intends to play a leading role in this evolution."
This transaction is part of AXIO Insurance Broker's broader 2024/2030 business plan, launched just over a year ago with the goal of building a highly specialized and structured organization in various sectors, those with the highest added value in the insurance market. This represents one of the first strategic milestones achieved and, at the same time, a fundamental starting point for consolidating AXIO's presence, which aims to specialize and establish its name firmly at the national level.
